This 54 mm bottomless (naked) portafilter lets you watch the shot as it forms, so you can spot spurts and channelling and make quick grind/distribution fixes. The head is 304 stainless steel for durability and easy cleaning, paired with an almond solid-wood handle that feels great in hand. A double basket is included, ready for typical 18–20 g doses.

Will it fit my machine?

It’s designed for 54 mm, 3-ear Sage group heads—commonly used on Barista Express (BES870), Barista Pro (BES878), Barista Touch (BES880), Bambino Plus (BES500), Infuser (BES840), and more 54mm models. If you’re unsure, check our Find Your Portafilter tool or message us a photo of your group head.

Bottomless vs spouted

Bottomless gives live feedback and typically preserves more crema; spouted is tidier for split shots. The bottomless design allows for observation of the flow column, rate and espresso extraction colour, leading to far superior consistency.

A bottomless portafilter will also yield 50% more crema due to the lack of contact with any other surfaces, leaving your beautiful espresso bubbles in their original form all in tact. More crema = more taste.
